BIBLE STUDY FOR SEPTEMBER 10-16, 2017
There are a few verses of scripture that any follower of Jesus Christ holds dear and is ready to recite at a moment’s notice. Of all the scriptures you can know, chances are that John 3:16 is the most familiar to you and the one you can immediately recall. Martin Luther called it “the gospel of Jesus Christ in Miniature.
In the lesson today Dr. Thomas Q. Robbins would like us to join him in examining why John 3:16 had been called the gospel in miniature. And the reason for exploring the verse in this was is so that you will be equipped to understand your own faith better and, when the opportunity comes, be better able to explain the gospel and your faith.
We now live in a culture where everyone in your immediate and extended family will be confronted in someway by people of other religions and philosophies that border on religious belief. When questioned about your faith, using John 3:16 in your answer is the finest and most powerful answer you could respond with. To help us dissect the meaning of this verse, our teacher, Dr. Thomas Q. Robbins, segments this simple but powerful verse into seven sections or aspects to make it easer to understand and apply to our own life before we are equipped to share it with others. He calls this lesson, “The Gospel of Jesus Christ In Miniature".
1. God so loved
2. Loved the World ~ Everyone in it.
3. God gave.
4. Jesus Christ has it all for you and it's free – no matter who you are that’s grace.
5. Thise who believe and willingly gives themselves to Him will never perish spiritually.
7. They will have everlasting life, an eternal life of quality that we can't understand.
These seven points are the Gospel. Listen for them in the message. Memorize them so you can carry them with you and be able to recite when needed.
Also listen carefully forThomas Q.’s explanation of how we become a believer, a follower of Jesus Christ. It is the most important point he will share in this message. To illustrate he uses the story of his visit to Abilene, Texas and the museum of the 12th Armored Division that fought in Europe in the Second World War.
