Dr. Thomas Q. Robbins – Bible Teacher in the Wesleyan Tradition
Dr. Robbins served his country for ten years as a lawyer in the U. S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He was stationed in Germany and then served as a military judge on the front lines of Vietnam for a year. Following Vietnam, Thomas Q was practicing law in central Texas when he answered God’s call to enter the ministry. A graduate of The Citadel, a law degree from the Tulane Law School, and Masters in Theology from the Perkins School of Theology, Dr. Robbins has pastored severall United Methodist churches in Texas including the University Park United Methodist Church in Dallas where he served as Senior Pastor for the past 14 years. In the summer, 2007, he accepted a new and exciting challenge that offers the opportunity to deal with the basic needs of people. He resigned his Dallas congregation to spend the rest of his life in mission work. Dr. Robbins is now the Senior Pastor of the Marlin, Texas Coop Parish which consists of three churches – The First United Methodist Church of Marlin, The Regan United Methodist Church and the Kossy United Methodist Church which are just southeast of Waco, Texas. The Texas Methodist Conference has asked Thomas Q. to direct this experiment to revive three small churches and minister their respective commonunities which are in great need. The move from an upscale city church to minister an economically disadvantaged rural area is a challenge for the Robbins, but they know they are exactly where the Lord wants them to be.
Dr. Thomas Q. Robbins has a heart
for reaching people with the Gospel and is motivated to use many
methods,
including radio and this Web site to spread God’s Word. Individually and collectively, the church is sent into the world to teach, to preach and to heal, following the example of Jesus set out in Matthew 4:23. The primary mission of Dr. Thomas Q. Robbins is to make faithful disciples of Jesus Christ through worshipping God, covenant relationships, and service to others.
